Dennis Culliton

Dennis was elected to the Land Trust Board in 2025. He and his wife moved from Guilford to Waterford in 2022 following their daughter and grandchildren who had recently moved to East Lyme.

Dennis graduated from high school in Massachusetts, served four years in the U.S. Marines and subsequently graduated from UMass Amherst (84) with a B.A. in Anthropology and Economics. He began his career with the Federal Government upon graduation as a Contract Administrator for the Navy at Electric Boat in Groton. He transferred to Schenectady (NY) Naval Reactors as a Cost and Price analyst for the Department of Energy. His final position was with the U.S. Coast Guard on Governors Island (NY) serving as a Contracting Officer.

Dennis changed careers in the mid-1990s with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Quinnipiac College (96). This began a twenty-five-year career as a middle school teacher retiring in 2019. In 2017 Dennis began the educational nonprofit the Witness Stones Project which he retired from in 2025.

I have always enjoyed hiking on local trails, and I want to give back to my new community by contributing to the work of the Waterford Land Trust. I am excited to have been invited onto the board and look forward to the work ahead.
